The Award-Winning LEE-Tones at LEE High School focuses on the study and performance of jazz and modern music. It is composed of musicians from all grade levels and all magnet programs as well as the LEE Choir and Orchestra. The Jazz Ensemble meets in the fall semester and continues into the Spring. Auditions are based on individual performances that are held in the band hall by appointment only. The Ensemble focuses, primarily, on developing technical and theoretical skills needed to perform the many forms of jazz music, including original "big band style" arrangements and jazz standards performed in small ensembles or "combos." The LEE-Tones perform at Fall and Spring Concerts and community events around the city. The LEE-Tones have also played with some of San Antonio's greatest jazz artists including John Migaldi, Ron Wilkins, and Mariano Escobedo. The group is directed by Director of Bands, Hugo Escobedo.
